今回紹介するのは、ニューヨーク交通博物館（New York Transit Museum）で開催中の展覧会『Underground Heroes: New York Transit in Comics』。19世紀から21世紀までに描かれたニューヨークの交通網にまつわるコミックやイラストを展示している。「ニューヨークの交通網は、この街を第二の故郷とした移民たちによって作られました。彼らが作ったものは、公共交通とコミックの表現、どちらにも影響を与えました。19世紀に登場した乗合馬車や1904年に開通した地下鉄。ニューヨークの縮図ともいうべき公共交通機関の人間模様が２次元の世界でいまも生き生き繰り広げられている。
